Lancaster Co. Man Shot Two People Before Suicide: Coroner (Update)

The Columbia, PA man who died the day after a triple shooting in Lancaster is now known to have been the shooter, according to an updated release by the Lancaster County Coroner's Office.

Anthony Hernandez died from his injuries from the shooting at Lancaster General on Thursday, April 20, 2023, according to an updated release by the police. 

The 22-year-old was one of three men taken to the hospital following a shooting in the 700 block of Fourth Street in Lancaster on Wednesday, April 19 around 11 p.m., the Lancaster Bureau of Police explained. 

Initially, the police believed there was a shooter that targetted Hernandez and released the following statement:

"The Bureau has not taken anyone into custody at this time. Investigators do not believe that there is any danger to the public and do not believe this was a random act." 

On Friday, April 21, the coroner announced that an examination had been performed on Hernandez, and it "revealed his cause of death to be Gunshot Wound to the Head. The manner of death was Suicide," as stated in the release.

The police confirmed that they are not pursuing any suspects and Hernandez shot the other two victims, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both victims are still receiving treatment for their injuries at the hospital, the police explained in an updated release.
